Wineability - Nutritional Labelling Mandatory

Wineability promotion Vinitaly 2024:
the solution for regulatory compliance is free.

Transparency towards the consumer and traceability of products, mandatory and valuable information on wine can now also be provided online, electronically, who would have ever thought? For those who have often struggled to read the microscopic characters on the back labels, this can be good news!
The information we are talking about is that relating to the communication of the list of ingredients and the nutritional declaration made mandatory on the wine label by EU regulation 2021/2117 in force from 8 December 2023. An important communication turning point and not only for the wine sector.

Wine companies are therefore looking for suitable solutions that, on the one hand, comply with legal requirements in the name of transparency, and on the other, are able to transform the digitalization of labeling and distribution processes into real opportunities.

These will certainly be the central themes among the many under discussion at Vinitaly and here SAIT, a leading software house in traceability, offers an opportunity for further study during a meeting open to the public: the meeting on Tuesday 16 April at 10:30, in the Vivaldi room, entitled “Nutritional label obligation: the Wineability solution complies with the new regulation and opens up the advantages of traceability”. To engage with the public, prominent speakers from the academic and technological world will intervene: Prof. Andrea Aparo von Flue, professor of Strategic Management at Sapienza University of Rome, who will accompany the exploration of the current economic context to help understand why and how digital emerges as a key tool; and Carlo Carminati, Commercial Director of SAIT, the Brescia-based company that proposes the event with the aim of presenting Wineability, the advanced solution for wine traceability. An exceptional testimonial will also be present, Giulio Barzanò from the Mosnel winery. In order to warm things up, we met them for a few questions and an exchange of opinions. “The EU regulation concerns wines produced from 8 December 2023 and requires that information on nutritional values – such as energy content, quantities of fats, carbohydrates, proteins and sugars per portion or per 100 ml – and ingredients be communicated to the consumer. This communication has a strategic value because it allows us to communicate with consumers with transparency and introduces new opportunities” explains the Sales Director of the Franciacorta software house. “In our case, Wineability provides a platform for wine traceability, allowing accurate management of information and simplifying the creation of compliant labels together with numerous other features. Consumers easily access it by scanning the special QR code on the label that takes them to the web pages containing the information compiled by the producers”. “From your relatively external point of observation, how is the wine sector experiencing the digital transition?” “It is understandable that in a sector characterized by small and medium-sized companies that make tradition a strong point, there is some resistance to the introduction of new technologies, for fear that they are too complex or that they will impact on procedures that are perhaps already problematic. Not to mention the reticence in tackling the graphics of paper labels,” continues Carminati. “Reassurance from us is therefore necessary. We introduced traceability in many other sectors before arriving in the wine sector.

The technologies we propose are sophisticated but user-friendly and have the objective of bridging a technological gap. We understand the temptation of some producers to try to solve the issue by adopting cheap and do-it-yourself solutions, but these involve risks. It is safer and more useful to rely on technology experts and use solutions that are already tried and tested and certain, both from a legal and operational point of view. For this reason we have developed Wineability together with some wineries where it has already been in use for years (see the Mosnel case). Adopting it means digitally evolving the company, enjoying benefits such as improved efficiency and greater perceived value of the wine”. “The issue of traceability and transparency seems controversial..” “On the one hand, all the players in the supply chain agree on the desire to clearly transmit information on the production, conservation and distribution of wine, on the other, it seems that there is no real intention on the part of each link in the distribution chain to collect and offer information relating to each step. Wineability, for example, introduces real traceability features that allow you to combat the phenomenon of gray markets. For wine companies in a country that aims to expand exports and increasingly control strategic foreign markets, we think it is essential to be able to have control over their market, to know the steps and places of distribution of their products. We need to get moving, the solution is ready and available to be implemented starting today, it is called Wineability, and it arrives at Vinitaly 2024 with a special promotion: for those who request a quote during the fair, the solution for regulatory compliance is free. Furthermore, since they are included in Industry 4.0 tangible goods, companies that invest in them can benefit from the tax credit”. Wineability: a complete platform for wine traceability

Wineability is a complete platform that simplifies the management of nutritional labelling and offers numerous advantages by ensuring: compliance with recent European regulations on nutritional and environmental labelling, avoiding costly penalties for irregularities; transparency towards the consumer who, through a simple QR code on the label, can access complete and updated information, thus promoting an informed choice; business efficiency, by automating the processes of producing codes and managing QR codes, thus optimizing time and costs; and, last but not least, due to its strategic importance, given the high competitiveness of the wine market at a global level, Wineability improves the perception of the value of the brand and the product, allowing it to stand out from the competition. It is an easy-to-use solution that is accessible to all wineries, which, regardless of the size and complexity of their company structure, can benefit from a complete assistance service from SAIT, from the implementation of the platform to staff training. Not just nutritional labelling: the advantages of traceability Wineability goes far beyond nutritional labelling, offering the advantages of the advanced features of wine traceability, namely: control of the supply chain by monitoring all phases from dressing onwards, thus being able to reveal and combat grey markets; inventory management and warehouse optimization; food safety and guarantee of product authenticity, making traceability possible down to the single bottle; as well as improving marketing and communication strategies thanks to the information collected. For visitors to Vinitaly, the invitation is to visit SAIT-Wineability at Enolitech stand G6 and on Tuesday 16 April at 10:30 am, in the Sala Vivaldi, participate in the meeting “Nutritional label obligation: the Wineability solution complies with the new regulation and opens up the advantages of traceability”.
